Our product photos show instruments before final production.
Before dispatch, every Scala instrument is inspected, laser marked and passivated, giving it a clean, finished surface and added protection against corrosion.
Castaneda Rib Spreader Aluminium Infant (Blade Width x Blade Depth: 120 x 450mm) (Arm Length: 81mm) (Opening Width: 700mm)
The Castaneda Rib Spreader Aluminium Infant is a self retaining thoracic retraction instrument designed to provide controlled and stable rib separation during infant cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures. The instrument allows gradual and precise opening to maintain consistent exposure of the operative field without continuous manual retraction, supporting accuracy and control in delicate surgical environments. Manufactured from lightweight aluminium, it reduces handling weight while maintaining the strength and stability required for infant use. The blade design engages the ribs securely while distributing retraction forces evenly to minimise localised stress. With a blade width and depth of 120 x 450mm, an arm length of 81mm, and a maximum opening width of 700mm, the instrument is proportioned to meet the anatomical and access requirements of infant thoracic surgery. It is suitable for repeated cleaning and steam sterilisation and is intended for use in operating theatres where reliable and stable rib retraction is essential.
These are re-usable, non-sterile medical devices (unless otherwise stated).
